smooth or itchy?

To get a smooth wool  the fibers need to lie parallel. Smooth , lean and strong woolens are worsted.  so that's why?    Woolen fibers (do I hear itch ) are short fibers lying in different locations.  "Woolen" fabrics are harsh to the touch and look rugged.  Woolens are warmer than worsteds.  So the expensive mens suits that we ogle at must be worsted.  Oh so very smooth to touch.
